A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the eligibility of school bus drivers for unemployment |
|
|
compensation benefits. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 207.041, Labor Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(b-1) Subsection (b) does not apply to an individual if the |
|
|
services performed by the individual for an educational institution |
|
|
consist only of driving a school bus transporting students to and |
|
|
from school or a school-sponsored or school-related activity. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to a claim for unemployment compensation benefits filed with the |
|
|
Texas Workforce Commission on or after the effective date of this |
|
|
Act. A claim filed before the effective date of this Act is |
|
|
governed by the law in effect on the date the claim was filed, and |
|
|
the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
