A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to notification by a public junior college to a school |
|
|
district of certain students referred to developmental coursework. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 51.3062, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (i-5) to read as follows: |
|
|
(i-5) In September and February of each year, a public |
|
|
junior college shall notify a school district of the number of |
|
|
students who received a high school diploma from the district and |
|
|
who the junior college referred to developmental coursework to |
|
|
address the student's deficiencies in the student's readiness to |
|
|
perform freshman-level academic coursework. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
