A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a federal waiver to exempt public school students with |
|
|
significant cognitive disabilities from annual assessment |
|
|
requirements imposed by federal law. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Not later than January 1, 2016, the Texas |
|
|
Education Agency shall apply to the United States Department of |
|
|
Education for a waiver of the annual alternate assessment of |
|
|
students with significant cognitive disabilities required under |
|
|
the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (20 U.S.C. Section 6301 et |
|
|
seq.) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 |
|
|
U.S.C. Section 1400 et seq.). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
