A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the availability on the Internet of personal financial |
|
statements filed by certain state officeholders. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 572, Government Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 572.0321 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 572.0321. AVAILABILITY OF CERTAIN STATEMENTS ON |
|
INTERNET. (a) The commission shall make available to the public on |
|
the commission's Internet website each financial statement filed |
|
under this subchapter by the following persons: |
|
(1) a member of the legislature; |
|
(2) an executive or judicial officer elected in a |
|
statewide election; and |
|
(3) a member of the State Board of Education. |
|
(b) The commission shall make a financial statement |
|
described in Subsection (a) available on the commission's Internet |
|
website not later than the 10th business day after the date the |
|
statement is filed. |
|
(c) The commission shall remove the home address of an |
|
individual from a financial statement filed by the individual under |
|
this subchapter before posting the statement on the commission's |
|
Internet website under this section. |
|
(d) Notwithstanding Section 572.032(c), the commission may |
|
not remove a financial statement described in Subsection (a) from |
|
the commission's Internet website before the 10th anniversary of |
|
the date the commission makes the statement available on the |
|
commission's Internet website. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 572.0321, Government Code, as added by |
|
this Act, applies only to a financial statement filed under |
|
Subchapter B, Chapter 572, Government Code, that is due on or after |
|
September 1, 2015. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
