A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the disposition of certain surplus property by the |
|
|
Department of Public Safety to certain local governments. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 2175, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 2175.308 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 2175.308. EXCEPTION FOR CERTAIN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC |
|
|
SAFETY PROPERTY. Notwithstanding other provisions of this chapter, |
|
|
the Department of Public Safety may sell at a 30 percent discount |
|
|
directly to a county or municipality located within 30 miles of the |
|
|
Texas-Mexico border: |
|
|
(1) a surplus law enforcement motor vehicle; or |
|
|
(2) other surplus law enforcement equipment, |
|
|
including radios, personal protection equipment, and weapons |
|
|
accessories. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
