A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to participation of certain school districts in the |
|
|
three-year high school diploma plan pilot program. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 28.0255(b), Education Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(b) This section applies only to a school district: |
|
|
(1) with an enrollment of more than 150,000 |
|
|
students[;] and |
|
|
[(2)] located primarily in a county with [that has] a |
|
|
population of 2.2 million or more [and] that is adjacent to a county |
|
|
with a population of more than 600,000; or |
|
|
(2) located in a county that borders the United |
|
|
Mexican States and the Gulf of Mexico. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
