        |  | A BILL TO BE ENTITLED | 
      
        |  | AN ACT | 
      
        |  | relating to the coordination and provision of certain health | 
      
        |  | services to veterans. | 
      
        |  | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | 
      
        |  | SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 531, Government Code, is | 
      
        |  | amended by adding Section 531.0058 to read as follows: | 
      
        |  | Sec. 531.0058.  ASSOCIATE COMMISSIONER FOR VETERANS | 
      
        |  | SERVICES.  The executive commissioner shall appoint for the | 
      
        |  | commission an associate commissioner for veterans services to: | 
      
        |  | (1)  review programs and benefits available for | 
      
        |  | veterans; and | 
      
        |  | (2)  make recommendations on the improvement and | 
      
        |  | coordination of veterans services. | 
      
        |  | SECTION 2.  Section 434.154(a), Government Code, is amended | 
      
        |  | to read as follows: | 
      
        |  | (a)  The council may, by majority vote, establish the | 
      
        |  | following coordinating workgroups to focus on specific issues | 
      
        |  | affecting veterans, servicemembers, and their families: | 
      
        |  | (1)  health; | 
      
        |  | (2)  [ or] mental health; | 
      
        |  | (3) [ (2)]  employment; | 
      
        |  | (4) [ (3)]  higher education; | 
      
        |  | (5) [ (4)]  criminal justice; | 
      
        |  | (6) [ (5)]  housing; | 
      
        |  | (7) [ (6)]  transportation; | 
      
        |  | (8) [ (7)]  women veterans; and | 
      
        |  | (9) [ (8)]  any other coordinating workgroup considered | 
      
        |  | necessary. | 
      
        |  | SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
