A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to posting notice of a meeting of a governmental body on |
|
|
the Internet instead of in a newspaper. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 551, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 551.057 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 551.057. INTERNET POSTING INSTEAD OF NEWSPAPER |
|
|
POSTING. Notwithstanding any other law, a governmental body that |
|
|
is required by law to post notice of a meeting in a newspaper may |
|
|
instead post notice of the meeting on the Internet. A governmental |
|
|
body that is required by law to post notice of a meeting on the |
|
|
Internet is not required to post notice in a newspaper. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to |
|
|
notice of a meeting that is required to be posted on or after the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. Notice that is required to be posted |
|
|
before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in |
|
|
effect at that time, and that law is continued in effect for that |
|
|
purpose. |

|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
