A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to certain data reported to the Texas Higher Education |
|
Coordinating Board by institutions of higher education for the |
|
purpose of compliance monitoring. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 61.035, Education Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |
|
(b-1) For purposes of this section, enrollment data |
|
reported by institutions of higher education to the board must |
|
include: |
|
(1) the identification of any student who is a veteran |
|
or military dependent; and |
|
(2) a designation of the type of any military higher |
|
education benefit the student is eligible to receive, is currently |
|
receiving, or has exhausted. |
|
SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply to data |
|
reported for students enrolled at an institution of higher |
|
education beginning with the 2015-2016 academic year. |
|
SECTION 3. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board |
|
shall adopt rules for the administration of Section 61.035, |
|
Education Code, as amended by this Act, as soon as practicable after |
|
this Act takes effect. For that purpose, the coordinating board may |
|
adopt the initial rules in the manner provided by law for emergency |
|
rules. |
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
