A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the confidentiality of certain information regarding |
|
|
state election inspectors. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Sections 34.001(a) and (c), Election Code, are |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) The secretary of state may appoint one or more state |
|
|
inspectors for an election. The appointment is, until the day after |
|
|
election day, confidential and not available for public inspection. |
|
|
(c) A request under Subsection (b) must be received by the |
|
|
secretary of state not later than the fourth regular business day |
|
|
before the date of the election for which the inspectors are |
|
|
requested. The request is, until the day after election day, |
|
|
confidential and not available for public inspection [until the day
|
|
|
after election day]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Chapter 34, Election Code, is amended by adding |
|
|
Section 34.006 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 34.006. PLACES INSPECTED CONFIDENTIAL. Information |
|
|
held by the secretary of state that indicates the place a state |
|
|
inspector has been appointed to inspect is, during the period |
|
|
beginning on the day the state inspector is appointed and ending on |
|
|
the day after election day, confidential and not available for |
|
|
public inspection. |

|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
