A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the construction of detention ponds by the Texas |
|
|
Department of Transportation. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 201.623 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 201.623. CONSTRUCTION OF DETENTION PONDS. In the |
|
|
construction of detention ponds associated with its highway |
|
|
projects, the department shall consider: |
|
|
(1) using a permeable surface for the detention pond; |
|
|
or |
|
|
(2) completing the detention pond so that the pond's |
|
|
completed state enables it to be used as green space available for |
|
|
wildlife and the general public. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
