A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the commission of family violence as grounds for an |
|
annulment of a marriage. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 6, Family Code, is amended |
|
by adding Section 6.1101 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 6.1101. FAMILY VIOLENCE. The court may grant an |
|
annulment of a marriage to a party to the marriage if the court |
|
finds that the other party to the marriage has committed family |
|
violence, as defined by Section 71.004, against the party. |
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a |
|
marriage regardless of whether the marriage was entered into |
|
before, on, or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
