A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the authority of an open-enrollment charter school to |
|
|
commission peace officers. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 12.104, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-1) Section 37.081 applies to an open-enrollment charter |
|
|
school as if the school were a school district and the governing |
|
|
body of the school were the board of trustees of a school district. |
|
|
Any reference in law to a peace officer commissioned under that |
|
|
section includes a peace officer commissioned by an open-enrollment |
|
|
charter school in accordance with this subsection. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
