A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to a study on the cost of a moratorium on administering |
|
certain assessment instruments. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. STUDY OF COSTS OF MORATORIUM ON CERTAIN |
|
ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENTS. The Texas Education Agency, in |
|
coordination with the Legislative Budget Board, shall conduct a |
|
study of the costs, including the loss of any federal education |
|
funding, associated with placing a moratorium on administering the |
|
assessment instruments required under the No Child Left Behind Act |
|
of 2001 (20 U.S.C. Section 6301 et seq.). |
|
SECTION 2. REPORT. Not later than January 1, 2017, the |
|
Texas Education Agency shall deliver a report detailing the |
|
financial implications of a moratorium on administering assessment |
|
instruments under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (20 U.S.C. |
|
Section 6301 et seq.) to the commissioner of education, governor, |
|
lieutenant governor, and speaker of the house of representatives. |
|
SECTION 3. EXPIRATION. This Act expires February 1, 2017. |
|
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September |
|
1, 2015. |
