A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the licensing and regulation of certain residential |
|
|
educational child-care facilities serving victims of human |
|
|
trafficking. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 42.041, Human Resources Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (h) to read as follows: |
|
|
(h) Notwithstanding Subsection (b)(7), an educational |
|
|
facility that is accredited by an accreditation body that is a |
|
|
member of the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission and |
|
|
operates primarily for educational purposes for prekindergarten |
|
|
and above shall comply with the licensing requirements of |
|
|
Subsection (a) and all department rules and minimum standards |
|
|
applicable to general residential operations that provide services |
|
|
to persons who are victims of human trafficking under Section |
|
|
20A.02, Penal Code, if at any point during the academic year more |
|
|
than 50 percent of the children at the facility are victims of human |
|
|
trafficking. |

|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
