A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the study of certain municipal transit systems by the |
|
|
Texas Transportation Institute. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 461, Transportation Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Section 461.0101 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 461.0101. STUDY OF TRANSIT SYSTEMS IN CERTAIN |
|
|
MUNICIPALITIES. (a) The Texas Transportation Institute shall |
|
|
conduct a study of the transit systems of Grand Prairie and |
|
|
Arlington. |
|
|
(b) In the study the Texas Transportation Institute shall: |
|
|
(1) identify: |
|
|
(A) the deficiencies in the municipalities' |
|
|
transit systems; |
|
|
(B) the causes of the deficiencies; and |
|
|
(C) options to address the deficiencies; |
|
|
(2) suggest improvements to the transit systems; and |
|
|
(3) identify: |
|
|
(A) the economic benefits of the suggested |
|
|
improvements; |
|
|
(B) the demographic and economic makeup of the |
|
|
population most affected by the suggested improvements; |
|
|
(C) the geographic areas most affected by the |
|
|
improvements; and |
|
|
(D) the cost of the improvements. |
|
|
(c) The Texas Transportation Institute shall submit the |
|
|
study to the legislature not later than December 31, 2016. |
|
|
(d) This section expires January 1, 2017. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
