A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the eligibility of certain students to participate in a |
|
|
school district's special education program. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 29.003, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) Notwithstanding Subsection (b), a student who is 21 |
|
|
years of age or older and under 26 years of age is eligible to |
|
|
participate in a school district's special education program if the |
|
|
student is otherwise eligible for the program as provided by this |
|
|
section, and the school district admits students who are 21 years of |
|
|
age or older and under 26 years of age in accordance with Section |
|
|
25.001(b). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
