A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the authority of certain counties to regulate camping |
|
|
on public beaches; adding a provision that may be subject to a |
|
|
criminal penalty. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 61.122, Natural Resources Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d-1) The commissioners court of a county bordering on the |
|
|
Gulf of Mexico or its tidewater limits, by order, may regulate |
|
|
camping on a beach within the boundaries of the county that is not |
|
|
in a public park under the jurisdiction of another governmental |
|
|
entity. The county may define "camping" and restrict the length of |
|
|
time for which a person may camp on the beach. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
