A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the disciplinary suspension of a municipal firefighter
  in certain municipalities.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 143.117, Local Government Code, is
  amended by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
         (b-1)  Notice of the suspension of a fire fighter must be
  personally served on the fire fighter not later than the 180th day
  after the date the department discovers or becomes aware of the
  civil service rule violation for which the fire fighter is
  suspended.
         SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
  to a suspension of a firefighter that occurs on or after the
  effective date of this Act.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
