A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the disciplinary suspension of a municipal firefighter |
|
|
in certain municipalities. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 143.117, Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(b-1) Notice of the suspension of a fire fighter must be |
|
|
personally served on the fire fighter not later than the 180th day |
|
|
after the date the department discovers or becomes aware of the |
|
|
civil service rule violation for which the fire fighter is |
|
|
suspended. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to a suspension of a firefighter that occurs on or after the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
