A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to posting certain fiscal analysis documents of counties |
|
|
and municipalities on the Internet. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 140, Local Government Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Section 140.008 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 140.008. FISCAL IMPACT DOCUMENTS POSTED ON INTERNET. |
|
|
(a) In this section, "fiscal impact document" means a document that |
|
|
states or analyzes the fiscal impact of a potential expenditure. |
|
|
(b) A county or municipality that maintains an Internet |
|
|
website shall post on the website each fiscal impact document |
|
|
created or used by the county or municipality that relates to an |
|
|
approved expenditure of the county or municipality of more than |
|
|
$50,000. |
|
|
(c) The county or municipality shall post the documents as |
|
|
soon as practicable after the expenditure has been approved. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|
|
an expenditure approved on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
An expenditure approved before the effective date of this Act is |
|
|
governed by the law in effect on the date the expenditure was |
|
|
approved, and the former law is continued in effect for that |
|
|
purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
