A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to granting limited state law enforcement authority to |
|
|
special agents of the Office of Inspector General of the United |
|
|
States Department of Homeland Security. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Article 2.122, Code of Criminal Procedure, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (h) to read as follows: |
|
|
(h) A Special Agent of the Office of Inspector General of |
|
|
the United States Department of Homeland Security is not a peace |
|
|
officer under the laws of this state but has the powers of arrest, |
|
|
search, and seizure as to any felony or misdemeanor offense |
|
|
committed under the laws of this state. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
