AN ACT
|
|
relating to training requirements for peace officers appointed to |
|
supervisory positions. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 1701.352(d), Occupations Code, is |
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
(d) A peace officer who is appointed or will be appointed to |
|
the officer's first supervisory position must receive in-service |
|
training on supervision as part of the course provided for the |
|
officer under Subsection (b) not earlier than the 12th month before |
|
the date of that appointment or later than the first anniversary of |
|
[during the 24-month period after] the date of that appointment. |
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
to an appointment made on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
An appointment made before the effective date of this Act is |
|
governed by the law in effect on the date the appointment was made, |
|
and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
