A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the authority of the Texas Transportation Commission to |
|
|
fund projects related to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 51, Transportation Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Section 51.015 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 51.015. FUNDING ASSISTANCE. (a) The commission may |
|
|
use state funds, including undedicated portions of the state |
|
|
highway fund, to: |
|
|
(1) assist the United States Army Corps of Engineers |
|
|
with the costs of maintenance and supplemental dredging activities |
|
|
for the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway; or |
|
|
(2) fund capital projects to repair, improve, or |
|
|
replace infrastructure facilities, as specified by the commission, |
|
|
along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, and fund studies to determine |
|
|
the feasibility of capital projects. |
|
|
(b) The commission may authorize the executive director of |
|
|
the department or the executive director's designee to enter into |
|
|
agreements with the United States Army Corps of Engineers under |
|
|
this section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
