A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the date of the primary election runoff. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Sections 41.007(b), (c), and (d), Election Code, |
|
|
are amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 41.007. PRIMARY ELECTIONS. (a) The general primary |
|
|
election date is the first Tuesday in March in each even-numbered |
|
|
year. |
|
|
(b) The runoff primary election date is the second [fourth] |
|
|
Tuesday in April [May] following the general primary election. |
|
|
(c) The runoff primary election date for any election for |
|
|
federal office is the fourth Tuesday in May following the general |
|
|
primary election. |
|
|
(d) [(c)] The presidential primary election date is the |
|
|
first Tuesday in March in each presidential election year. |
|
|
(e) [(d)] No other election may be held on the date of a |
|
|
primary election. |
|
|
|
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
