A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the compensation of associate judges appointed to hear |
|
Title IV-D cases or child protection cases. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 201.105, Family Code, is amended to read |
|
as follows: |
|
Sec. 201.105. COMPENSATION OF ASSOCIATE JUDGE. (a) An |
|
associate judge appointed under this subchapter is entitled to |
|
receive from the state a salary in an amount equal to [be determined
|
|
by a majority vote of the presiding judges of the administrative
|
|
judicial regions. The salary may not exceed] 90 percent of the |
|
salary paid to a district judge as set by the General Appropriations |
|
Act. |
|
(b) Notwithstanding any other law, longevity pay paid to an |
|
associate judge under Section 659.044, Government Code, is not |
|
included as part of the [The] associate judge's salary amount |
|
provided by Subsection (a) [shall be paid from county funds
|
|
available for payment of officers' salaries or from funds available
|
|
from the state and federal government as provided by this
|
|
subchapter]. |
|
(c) The office of court administration in accordance with |
|
this subchapter may use federal funds obtained from the Title IV-D |
|
agency to cover the costs of an associate judge's salary. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 201.205, Family Code, is amended by |
|
amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to read as |
|
follows: |
|
(a) An associate judge appointed under this subchapter is |
|
entitled to receive from the state a salary in an amount equal to |
|
[as determined by a majority vote of the presiding judges of the
|
|
administrative judicial regions. The salary may not exceed] 90 |
|
percent of the salary paid to a district judge as set by the state |
|
General Appropriations Act. |
|
(a-1) Notwithstanding any other law, longevity pay paid to |
|
an associate judge under Section 659.044, Government Code, is not |
|
included as part of the associate judge's salary amount provided by |
|
Subsection (a). |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
