A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
Relating to reimbursement of county expenses for special |
|
|
legislative elections. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 203, Election Code, is amended by adding |
|
|
Section 203.015 as follows: |
|
|
Section 203.015. Reimbursement of Election Expenses. |
|
|
Within 90-days of a special election held under this chapter on a |
|
|
date other than a uniform election date, the secretary of state |
|
|
shall certify the expenses incurred by each county in the conduct of |
|
|
the election. The comptroller shall reimburse each county for its |
|
|
certified expenses from funds appropriated for that purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
