A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a study of the use of regional rating for health |
|
|
coverage provided under the uniform group coverage program for |
|
|
certain active school employees and their dependents. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. STUDY; REGIONAL RATING METHOD. The Teacher |
|
|
Retirement System of Texas shall conduct a study of the benefits and |
|
|
disadvantages of establishing a regional rating method for |
|
|
determining premiums charged in different regions of the state for |
|
|
benefits provided under a plan of group coverage administered by |
|
|
the system under Chapter 1579, Insurance Code. |
|
|
SECTION 2. REPORT. Not later than December 1, 2016, the |
|
|
Teacher Retirement System of Texas shall report the results of the |
|
|
study conducted under Section 1 of this Act to the speaker of the |
|
|
house of representatives, the lieutenant governor, and the standing |
|
|
committees of the house and the senate with jurisdiction over the |
|
|
retirement system and insurance. The report must be accompanied by |
|
|
recommendations for legislation, if appropriate. |
|
|
SECTION 3. EXPIRATION. Sections 1 and 2 of this Act and |
|
|
this section expire September 1, 2017. |
|
|
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September |
|
|
1, 2015. |
