A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to certain licenses issued to retired judicial officers;
  amending the requirements for a license.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Sec. 411.201, Government Code, is amended as
  follows:
         Sec. 411.201.  ACTIVE AND RETIRED JUDICIAL OFFICERS.  (a) In
  this section:
               (1)  "Active judicial officer" means:
                     (A)  a person serving as a judge or justice of the
  supreme court, the court of criminal appeals, a court of appeals, a
  district court, a criminal district court, a constitutional county
  court, a statutory county court, a justice court, or a municipal
  court;
                     (B)  a federal judge who is a resident of this
  state; or
                     (C)  a person appointed and serving as an
  associate judge under Chapter 201, Family Code.
               (2)  "Retired judicial officer" means:
                     (A)  a special judge appointed under Section
  26.023 or 26.024; or
                     (B)  a senior judge designated under Section
  75.001 or a judicial officer as designated or defined by Section
  75.001, 831.001, or 836.001; or
                     (C)  a retired federal judge, who is a resident of
  this state.
                     (C-1)  "Federal judge" means:
                           (1)  a judge of a United States court of
  appeals;
                           (2)  a judge of a United States district
  court;
                           (3)  a judge of a United States bankruptcy
  court; or
                           (4)  a magistrate judge of a United States
  district court.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
