A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to funding law enforcement training for veterans from |
|
|
state and federal funds or grants. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 1701.165 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 1701.165. VETERANS ASSISTANCE. (a) In this section, |
|
|
"military veteran" has the meaning assigned by Section 55.001. |
|
|
(b) The commission shall seek to obtain state and federal |
|
|
funds, including grants, to assist local law enforcement agencies |
|
|
in providing training to military veterans who seek to become |
|
|
officers. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
