A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the final decision in a contested case regarding
  occupational licensing before a State Office of Administrative
  Hearings administrative law judge.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 2001.058, Government Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (g) to read as follows:
         (g)  Notwithstanding Subsection (e) or any other law, in a
  contested case before a state agency that concerns licensing in
  relation to an occupational license and is not disposed of by
  stipulation, agreed settlement, or consent order, an occupational
  license holder may elect to have the administrative law judge
  render the final decision in the contested case. If the license
  holder elects to have the administrative law judge render the final
  decision, the provisions applicable to a contested case under
  Subsection (f) apply to a contested case described by this
  subsection.
         SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
  to a contested case filed on or after the effective date of this
  Act. A contested case filed before the effective date of this Act
  is governed by the law in effect on the date the contested case was
  filed, and that law is continued in effect for that purpose.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
