A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to additional state aid for school districts that provide |
|
|
social security coverage for district employees. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 42, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 42.25141 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 42.25141. ADDITIONAL STATE AID FOR SOCIAL SECURITY |
|
|
CONTRIBUTIONS. (a) This section applies only to a school district |
|
|
that provided social security coverage, as defined by Section |
|
|
606.001, Government Code, for district employees during the 2014 |
|
|
calendar year. |
|
|
(b) For each school year, a school district, including a |
|
|
school district that is otherwise ineligible for state aid under |
|
|
this chapter, is entitled to state aid in an amount equal to the |
|
|
district's cost of paying contributions in the 2015-2016 and each |
|
|
subsequent school year for a class of employees covered under the |
|
|
social security program during the 2014 calendar year. |
|
|
(b-1) The amount of state aid to which a school district is |
|
|
entitled under this section is in addition to the amount of revenue |
|
|
to which the district is entitled under Section 42.2516(b). This |
|
|
subsection expires September 1, 2017. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
