A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to posting certain economic development agreements on the |
|
Internet. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subtitle C, Title 12, Local Government Code, is |
|
amended by adding Chapter 500 to read as follows: |
|
CHAPTER 500. MISCELLANEOUS PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT PROVISIONS |
|
AFFECTING MORE THAN ONE TYPE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT |
|
Sec. 500.001. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENTS POSTED ON |
|
INTERNET. (a) In this section: |
|
(1) "Economic development agreement" means an |
|
agreement entered into between a political subdivision and a person |
|
to promote state or local economic development and stimulate |
|
business and commercial activity, including an agreement that |
|
provides financial or other incentives to a business to locate, |
|
stay, or expand its operations in or near the political |
|
subdivision. |
|
(2) "Political subdivision" means a county, |
|
municipality, school district, junior college district, other |
|
special district, or other subdivision of state government. |
|
(b) A political subdivision that maintains an Internet |
|
website must post on the website each economic development |
|
agreement that the political subdivision enters into. The political |
|
subdivision must post each agreement continuously from the date the |
|
agreement is executed until the date the agreement expires. |
|
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding Section 500.001, Local |
|
Government Code, as added by this Act, a political subdivision must |
|
post each economic development agreement as defined by that section |
|
that is in effect on the effective date of this Act not later than |
|
December 1, 2015. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
