white-tailed deer during a special open season. |
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 62, Parks and Wildlife |
Code, is amended by adding Section 62.0165 to read as follows: |
Sec. 62.0165. HUNTING OF WHITE-TAILED DEER DURING YOUTH |
WEEKEND. (a) If the commission provides a special two-day weekend |
open season under Section 61.058(a), the commission shall for that |
weekend only: |
(1) suspend for white-tailed deer hunting any county |

(2) establish a bag limit of one white-tailed deer per |
hunter. |
(b) To the extent of any conflict with Subsection (a), a |
hunting restriction imposed by a landowner who allows hunting on |
the landowner's private property prevails. |
SECTION 2. The Parks and Wildlife Commission shall adopt or |
amend rules applicable to youth hunting of white-tailed deer to |
comply with Section 62.0165, Parks and Wildlife Code, as added by |

this Act, as soon as possible, with the goal of having the new rules |
in place for the youth hunting weekend that is traditionally held |
before the start of the regular open season for white-tailed deer. |
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
