A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to requiring the Port of Houston Authority to comply with |
|
|
historically underutilized business provisions. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 5007, Special District |
|
|
Local Laws Code, is amended by adding Section 5007.229 to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
Sec. 5007.229. HISTORICALLY UNDERUTILIZED BUSINESSES. |
|
|
Chapter 2161, Government Code, applies to the authority in the same |
|
|
manner as if the authority were a state agency subject to that |
|
|
chapter. |
|
|
SECTION 2. (a) Not later than December 1, 2015, the Port of |
|
|
Houston Authority shall adopt the rules required to implement the |
|
|
change in law made by this Act. |
|
|
(b) Section 5007.229, Special District Local laws Code, as |
|
|
added by this Act, applies only to a purchase of goods or services |
|
|
or a contract entered into on or after January 1, 2016. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
