CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Our country's judicial system was founded on the |
|
|
principle that every American deserves equal justice under the law; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Filing fees create an undue burden on many Texans, |
|
|
and the state would benefit from adopting policies to ensure that |
|
|
all citizens have equal access to the courts; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
|
hereby request the Texas Supreme Court to conduct a study of court |
|
|
filing fees that considers ways to eliminate such fees; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official |
|
|
copy of this resolution to the chief justice of the Texas Supreme |
|
|
Court. |
