CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Texas-based automotive engineering company
  Hennessey Performance achieved a remarkable feat when its Venom GT
  set a new world speed record; and
         WHEREAS, Headquartered in Sealy, Hennessey Performance was
  established in 1991 by John Hennessey, a former professional racer
  who has conquered such events as the Pikes Peak International Hill
  Climb and the Silver State Classic Challenge and set a world record
  in his class at the Bonneville Salt Flats International Speedway;
  he started the business by modifying imports in his garage and
  quickly garnered acclaim for his creations from several magazines,
  including Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Top Gear, and Road & Track;
  in addition to serving as the company's president, he is the founder
  of Tuner School, an institution where aspiring tuners learn the art
  of making fast cars faster; and
         WHEREAS, The company's Venom GT holds the Guinness World
  Record for standing-start acceleration, and in February 2014, it
  shattered the record for the highest speed ever reached by a
  production car by clocking in at 270.49 miles per hour at the
  Kennedy Space Center in Florida; and
         WHEREAS, Hennessey Performance has captivated car
  enthusiasts the world over with its powerful and innovative
  automobiles, and its achievements are furthering the Lone Star
  State's reputation for excellence in engineering and design; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 84th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby congratulate Hennessey Performance on setting a world speed
  record with its Venom GT and extend to John Hennessey and his staff
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Hennessey Performance as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
