R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The legislative community lost one of its own with
  the passing of an esteemed colleague, Julia Alexandra Bass, the
  longtime journal clerk of the Texas House of Representatives, on
  November 5, 2014, at the age of 51; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Grand Saline on November 30, 1962, to Judge
  Bill Bass and Patsy McMurray Bass, Julia Bass graduated from
  St. Mary's Hall High School in San Antonio and pursued her higher
  education at The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a
  bachelor's degree in English language and literature; and
         WHEREAS, This accomplished woman began her career in state
  government in 1994, when she joined the staff of the Texas House of
  Representatives; Ms. Bass went on to serve the citizens of the Lone
  Star State with the utmost dedication during an outstanding career
  that spanned more than two decades; noted for her commitment to
  excellence, she held the title of journal clerk from the 78th
  through the 83rd Legislative Sessions, handling her duties with
  exceptional skill and attention to detail over the course of her
  remarkable tenure; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to earning the respect of others for her
  invaluable professional contributions, Ms. Bass was admired by
  many for the grace, humor, and courage with which she lived her
  life, which was challenged early by scoliosis and later by cancer;
  finding joy in life despite these hardships, she delighted in the
  company of her loved ones, including her favorite four-legged
  companions, and in her free time, she took pleasure in jewelry
  making, traveling, and writing, and together with her sister, she
  published two novels of historical fiction; and
         WHEREAS, Although her journey on this earth ended far too
  soon, Julia Bass was blessed with a caring and cheerful nature and
  an indomitable spirit that won her many friends, and she will not
  soon be forgotten by all those who were privileged to know her; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Julia Alexandra Bass
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
  parents, Judge Bill Bass and Patsy Bass; to her brother, James; to
  her sisters, Suzie and Elizabeth; to her godsister, Shatzie; to her
  nephews, Will and Zack; and to her other relatives and many friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Julia
  Alexandra Bass.
