R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce has
  been awarded five-star accreditation by the United States Chamber
  of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Across the country, just three percent of chambers
  are accredited and only the top one percent have attained the
  prestigious five-star rating; and
         WHEREAS, In order to achieve accreditation, a chamber must
  meet minimum standards in its operations and programs, including
  governance, government affairs, and technology; the five-star
  rating reflects a chamber's ability to meet additional criteria,
  including accountability, financial transparency, employee
  involvement, political advocacy, and community engagement;
  moreover, it recognizes that a chamber is working diligently to
  advance pro-growth policies at the local, state, and federal
  levels; and
         WHEREAS, For 35 consecutive years, the Lufkin/Angelina
  County Chamber of Commerce has held accreditation, an
  acknowledgment of its high-quality programs, sound organizational
  practices, and commitment to effecting positive change; only a
  handful of the country's 7,000 chambers can claim such a long
  history of accreditation; and
         WHEREAS, The five-star accreditation accorded the
  Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce is a reflection of its
  standing as one of the top chambers in the nation, and it is indeed
  fitting to honor this noteworthy organization for its
  accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber
  of Commerce on its receipt of five-star accreditation from the U.S.
  Chamber of Commerce and extend to its staff and members sincere best
  wishes for continued success in their important work; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
