R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Norma Linda Martinez Gallegos of Brownsville on October
  29, 2014, at the age of 70; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Tomasa and Raul Martinez, the former
  Norma Martinez was born in Brownsville in June 1944; she graduated
  from Brownsville High School in 1963 and went on to build a 27-year
  career as an elementary teacher, reading specialist, and
  facilitator before retiring in 2000 to dedicate more time to her
  family; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Gallegos was a devoted wife to her husband of
  46 years, Ruben Gallegos, and the proud mother of two children,
  Ruben and Norma Linda; she adored her two grandsons and enjoyed
  attending and hosting family gatherings, visiting Las Vegas, and
  listening to the music of Elvis Presley; a woman of strong religious
  convictions as well, she was a valued member of the community of
  faith at St. Mary's Catholic Church; and
         WHEREAS, Norma Gallegos inspired those around her with her
  courage, kindness, and optimism, and although she is deeply missed,
  the loved ones she leaves behind will long remember her with great
  tenderness and affection; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature pay tribute to the life of Norma Linda Martinez
  Gallegos and extend sincere condolences to the members of her
  family: to her husband, Dr. Ruben Gallegos; to her children, Ruben
  Gallegos Jr. and his wife, Lisa, and Dr. Norma Linda
  Gallegos-Flores and her husband, Art; to her grandsons, Ruben
  Gallegos III and Raul Alfonso Gallegos; to her sisters, Yolanda
  Garza and her husband, Lupe, and Sylvia Gomez and her husband,
  Rolando; to her brother, Raul Martinez Jr. and his wife, Jeannie;
  and to her other friends and relatives, including Dr. Manuel and
  Raquel Gomez, Eddie and Elida Martinez, Lupe and Odilia Gonzalez,
  Saul and Irma Villarreal, Juan and Rosie Gonzalez, David and Janie
  Majors, Luis and Diana Liendo, and Jesse and Delma Gallegos; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Norma Linda
  Martinez Gallegos.
