pinnacle of success by winning the 2014 University Interscholastic
League 1A state championship on June 5 at the Dell Diamond in Round
  Rock; and
WHEREAS, With their title-game triumph, the Indians closed
out an unforgettable year in which they lost just once while racking
up 32 victories; the Douglass players claimed the district

semifinals, Douglass matched up against Flatonia with the state

plate in the bottom of the fifth to invoke the mercy rule and clinch
the 1A championship in a dominating 10-0 victory; the team's
offensive attack was paced by Kolten Rhoudes and Hunter Lee, who
each drove in three runs, while pitcher Matthew Wallace earned the
game's Most Valuable Player honor for holding Flatonia hitters to
just three hits over five shutout innings; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wallace and Mr. Rhoudes were selected for the
All-Tournament Team, and they were joined by Bryce Westbrook and
Grant Holland; excelling through teamwork, the Indians also

guidance the Indians captured the school's first state championship
in any sport; moreover, the team's impressive performance during
2014 earned national attention, as Douglass was ranked 13th in the
United States among small high schools in a poll conducted by
  MaxPreps; and
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
commitment to excellence, and the talented student-athletes of the
