R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Sistema Universitario Ana G. Méndez is celebrating |
|
|
the grand opening of its Dallas Area Campus on February 5, 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in Puerto Rico, SUAGM is the second |
|
|
largest private university system on the island; it was founded on |
|
|
the pioneering groundwork of Professor Ana G. Méndez, who created |
|
|
Puerto Rico's first two-year higher education institution; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The new North Texas facility, ably led by university |
|
|
president Dr. José F. Méndez and campus director Rene Martinez, |
|
|
will host a bilingual adult program that offers associate, |
|
|
bachelor's, and master's degrees in a number of disciplines; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A strong academic foundation is vital to advancement |
|
|
in an increasingly global economy, and the new SUAGM campus will |
|
|
help its students to develop the knowledge and skills required to |
|
|
meet the evolving challenges of the 21st century; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the grand opening of the Dallas Area |
|
|
Campus of Sistema Universitario Ana G. Méndez and extend sincere |
|
|
best wishes for the future to all those associated with the school; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the campus as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
