R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of Team Arlington are visiting the State
  Capitol on January 28, 2015, as part of their annual trip to Austin;
  and
         WHEREAS, A chamber-led coalition, Team Arlington advocates
  at the state and federal levels for resources to support local
  economic development initiatives in Southea
  st Tarrant County; each
  year, Team Arlington delegations travel to Austin and Washington,
  D.C., to meet with elected and appointed officials; and
         WHEREAS, Joining us today are Arlington mayor
  Dr. Robert Cluck, Arlington Chamber of Commerce president Wes
  Jurey, Arlington Independent School District superintendent
  Dr. Marcelo Cavazos, Tarrant County commissioner Andy Nguyen,
  Hurst-Euless-Bedford Chamber of Commerce president Mary Frazior,
  Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County executive director Judy
  McDonald, Tarrant County College--Southeast Campus president
  Dr. Bill Coppola, and Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau
  president Ronnie Price; and
         WHEREAS, The founding partners of this dynamic organization
  include the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, the City of Arlington,
  The University of Texas at Arlington, Tarrant County, Tarrant
  County College--Southeast, Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County,
  the Arlington Independent School District, the Arlington
  Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the local Hispanic, African
  American, Asian American, and Pan Asian American chambers of
  commerce; and
         WHEREAS, Located halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth in
  Tarrant County, Arlington is a thriving community with numerous
  economic and educational resources and diverse entertainment
  venues; the area that would become Arlington, with its fertile
  blackland and sandy loam, counted farmers among its early
  inhabitants in the mid-19th century; it was formally founded in
  1876 as a market town on the Texas and Pacific Railway and named
  after the Virginia hometown of Robert E. Lee; and
         WHEREAS, Today, Arlington is home to almost 400,000
  residents; it is a hub for various technical and manufacturing
  companies, including General Motors, and features superior
  research and teaching facilities at UT Arlington; more than eight
  million people visit the city annually to experience such
  attractions as Six Flags Over Texas and the International Bowling
  Museum & Hall of Fame and to attend sporting events at Globe Life
  Park in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers, and AT&T Stadium, home
  of the Dallas Cowboys; and
         WHEREAS, By making a proactive effort to work in conjunction
  with state and federal leaders, Team Arlington has helped to
  promote growth and development in this vibrant city, which
  continues to be one of the Lone Star State's greatest assets; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby welcome the members of Team Arlington to the
  State Capitol and recognize January 28, 2015, as Team Arlington
  Day; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
