R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Imogene |
|
|
Cobbs of Mineola, who passed away on September 19, 2014, at the age |
|
|
of 80; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in Lott on August 4, 1934, to A. W. and Eddie |
|
|
Holle, the former "Jean" Holle grew up with two sisters and three |
|
|
brothers; in 1952, she married John Cobbs, with whom she shared a |
|
|
rewarding union of more than six decades; the couple became the |
|
|
proud parents of four children, Steve, Jim, Tom, and Tony, and with |
|
|
the passing years, they were further blessed with four |
|
|
granddaughters, Stephanie, Elisabeth, Olivia, and Sevene; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cobbs found fulfillment in her career with the |
|
|
Mineola Independent School District, where she worked as a |
|
|
teacher's aide, librarian, and administrative assistant over the |
|
|
course of nearly a quarter-century; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Mrs. Cobbs was a valued |
|
|
congregant at the First United Methodist Church of Mineola; she was |
|
|
also a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the local chapter of the Order of |
|
|
the Eastern Star; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Jean Cobbs took immense joy in her loved ones and in |
|
|
the time they spent together, and memories of her beautiful smile, |
|
|
infectious laughter, and generosity of spirit will forever be |
|
|
treasured by all who had the good fortune to know her; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jean Cobbs and extend |
|
|
sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her husband, |
|
|
John Cobbs; to her sons, Steve Cobbs, Jim Cobbs and his wife, Amy, |
|
|
and Tom Cobbs and his wife, Rese; to her sisters, Betty Beauchamp |
|
|
and Bobbie Saltzman; to her granddaughters, Stephanie, Elisabeth, |
|
|
Olivia, and Sevene; and to her other relatives and many friends; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jean Cobbs. |
