R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, nurse practitioners have |
|
provided high-quality, cost-effective health care, devoting |
|
themselves to the well-being and safety of their patients; and |
|
WHEREAS, Nurse practitioners are registered nurses who have |
|
completed master's or doctoral degrees and who are licensed to |
|
deliver health care services independently and in collaboration |
|
with a variety of other health care providers; they are experts in |
|
disease prevention, and their responsibilities typically include |
|
conducting physical exams, obtaining patient histories, ordering |
|
and interpreting pertinent diagnostic tests, making diagnoses, and |
|
ordering and prescribing medications and other therapies; and |
|
WHEREAS, Across Texas, over 13,000 nurse practitioners |
|
provide services in a wide variety of settings, among them |
|
outpatient clinics, nurse practitioner-owned clinics, medical |
|
offices, hospitals, intensive and emergency care units, extended |
|
care centers, and school facilities; and |
|
WHEREAS, The contributions of nurse practitioners are a vital |
|
component of the Texas health care system, and it is indeed |
|
appropriate to recognize the many ways in which these highly |
|
skilled professionals promote the well-being of their fellow |
|
citizens; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor nurse practitioners across the Lone Star |
|
State and commend them for their dedicated service. |
