R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Rene
  C. Alaniz Sr. of Mission, who died on November 26, 2014, at the age
  of 63; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Elida Garza Alaniz and Leonardo Alaniz,
  Rene Alaniz was born in Mission on September 5, 1951, and he
  graduated from Mission High School; he was joined in matrimony to
  Dalia Alaniz, and together they raised three children, Rene Jr.,
  Christine, and Maritza; and
         WHEREAS, One of the most respected firefighters in the Rio
  Grande Valley, Mr. Alaniz joined the McAllen Fire Department in
  October 1977, and over the course of his exemplary 36-year career,
  he excelled at his job, earning three certifications from the Texas
  Commission on Fire Protection; his duties included service as a
  public information officer and a public education officer, and he
  retired in September 2014 as a lieutenant officer; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Alaniz loved fishing and hosting family events,
  and he took particular delight in the time he spent with his five
  grandchildren; he also gave generously of his time to the National
  Fire Protection Association and the State Firemen's and Fire
  Marshals' Association of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man and an admired public servant,
  Rene Alaniz leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all
  those who had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Rene C. Alaniz Sr. and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Dalia Alaniz; to his children, Rene C. Alaniz Jr., Christine
  Alaniz, and Maritza Alaniz; to his brothers, Alberto, Jesus, and
  Alfredo Alaniz; to his sisters, Maria del Rosario Alaniz, Alicia
  Farias, Sylvia Edna Alaniz, and Linda Yvonne Alaniz; to his five
  grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rene
  C. Alaniz Sr.
