R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The McAllen Fire Department was named the winner of |
|
the 2014 Good Morning America 5-Alarm Firefighters Challenge; and |
|
WHEREAS, Firefighters Thomas Brooks, Justin Hill, and Mark |
|
Zamora represented the McAllen Fire Department in New York City, |
|
where they competed against fellow firefighters from Tacoma, |
|
Washington, and Gulf Shores, Alabama, on the popular ABC-TV show; |
|
they performed well in several skills-based and physical events, |
|
and the team secured their victory with an impressive showing in the |
|
trivia portion of the competition; and |
|
WHEREAS, The department was presented with a check for |
|
$10,000 for winning the 5-Alarm Firefighters Challenge, and the |
|
funds were subsequently donated by MFD to the Texas Line of Duty |
|
Death Task Force, which supports firefighters injured in the line |
|
of duty as well as the families of those firefighters who have lost |
|
their lives while safeguarding their fellow Texans; and |
|
WHEREAS, The McAllen Fire Department plays a vital role in |
|
the community its members have sworn to protect, and it is a |
|
pleasure to recognize these outstanding public servants for their |
|
significant accomplishment and service; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the McAllen Fire Department on |
|
winning the Good Morning America 5-Alarm Firefighters Challenge for |
|
2014 and extend best wishes to its members for continued success |
|
with their crucial work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the department as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
