R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, Terri Drefke is celebrating her 25th anniversary as |
|
|
chief executive officer of the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, |
|
|
Inc., in 2014, and this occasion presents a fitting opportunity to |
|
|
recognize her for her exemplary service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since assuming leadership of the Food Bank RGV in |
|
|
1989, Ms. Drefke has helped implement a number of worthwhile |
|
|
programs, and today the nonprofit is the state's fifth largest food |
|
|
bank based on distribution; the organization partners with some 230 |
|
|
agencies and has distributed over 24 million pounds of food, worth |
|
|
an estimated $20 million, this year alone, and it helps to feed more |
|
|
than 42,000 residents of Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy Counties |
|
|
each week; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to her exceptional efforts in behalf of |
|
|
the food bank, Ms. Drefke has given generously of her time and |
|
|
talents to numerous civic organizations; she serves as chair of the |
|
|
Pharr Cultural Arts Council and as a member of the boards of Faith |
|
|
Communities for Disaster Recovery, Catholic Charities, and two |
|
|
local emergency food and shelter programs; she is also a member of |
|
|
the McAllen South Rotary Club, and she has served as president of |
|
|
Feeding Texas; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Drefke is blessed in all of her endeavors with |
|
|
the love and support of her husband, Don Drefke, and their two |
|
|
children, Heather and Karl; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For the past quarter-century, Terri Drefke has |
|
|
demonstrated a steadfast commitment to bettering the lives of Rio |
|
|
Grande Valley residents, and her many notable accomplishments have |
|
|
made a positive and lasting impact in her community; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Terri Drefke for her 25 years of service |
|
|
with the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, Inc., and extend to her |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Drefke as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
