R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Robert Sutherland has been named a 2014 Corpus |
|
|
Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished Scholar in |
|
|
recognition of his achievements in the Career category; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas Distinguished |
|
|
Scholars program was established to reward local students who have |
|
|
demonstrated excellence in such areas as academics, athletics, |
|
|
leadership, and community service; since its inception in 1988, |
|
|
some 480 young men and women have been selected for this prestigious |
|
|
honor, with the winners each receiving a stipend to assist with |
|
|
postsecondary education expenses; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Robert and Marissa Sutherland, |
|
|
Mr. Sutherland is a senior at King High School; aspiring to a career |
|
|
in welding, he is gaining experience in the trade by taking courses |
|
|
at the Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend and by working with |
|
|
his grandfather, who is a certified welder; Mr. Sutherland plans to |
|
|
attend vocational school after graduating; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has pursued his goals |
|
|
with tremendous dedication, and he may take great pride in all that |
|
|
he has accomplished as he looks ahead to a future bright with |
|
|
promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Robert Sutherland on his selection |
|
|
as a 2014 Corpus Christi Caller-Times/Citgo South Texas |
|
|
Distinguished Scholar and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Sutherland as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
