R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Lamesa High School volleyball co-head coaches Patty
  and Tippy Browning are retiring at the end of the 2014-2015 school
  year, drawing to a close the remarkable careers of this unique
  coaching duo; and
         WHEREAS, Born five minutes apart on July 31, 1945, identical
  twins Patty and Tippy Browning were both All-District basketball
  players at Vega High School before graduating together from Abilene
  Christian University; the sisters joined the faculty at Lamesa High
  School in 1968 and were subsequently named co-head coaches of the
  Golden Tornadoes volleyball team; and
         WHEREAS, Over the ensuing 47 seasons, these talented coaches
  deftly balanced the responsibilities of mentoring their players
  while leading the program to new heights of achievement; deeply
  committed to their athletes, they logged more than 300,000 miles in
  buses to compete in games and tournaments all across the Lone Star
  State while building Lamesa into a formidable volleyball
  competitor; and
         WHEREAS, The Golden Tornadoes averaged an impressive 20 wins
  per season with the Brownings at the helm, and the team consistently
  qualified for the state playoffs, with 33 total trips to the
  postseason; under the sisters' direction, Lamesa earned four berths
  in the state tournament, reached the pinnacle of success by
  capturing the 4A state championship in 1986, and finished as state
  runner-up in 1998; another highlight came in 2012, when the coaches
  captured their 900th career win in a triumph over Van Horn High
  School; moreover, their final tally of 937 victories counts them
  among the all-time winningest volleyball coaches in the country;
  and
         WHEREAS, Throughout their stellar tenure at Lamesa High
  School, Patty and Tippy Browning have distinguished themselves as
  gifted coaches and skilled leaders whose guidance has benefited
  hundreds of young women, and they are indeed deserving of special
  recognition for their myriad accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Patty and Tippy Browning on the occasion
  of their retirement as co-head coaches of the Lamesa High School
  volleyball team and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Patty and Tippy Browning as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
