R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jerry Huffman has ably led the Lufkin/Angelina
  County Chamber of Commerce during his many years with the
  organization; and
         WHEREAS, A commercial real estate developer, Mr. Huffman
  joined the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce as executive
  vice president in 1974 and became president in 1986; he currently
  serves as the chamber's president and chief executive officer; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Mr. Huffman has been a
  vigorous advocate for the citizens of Angelina County, promoting
  area events and championing local businesses and organizations; he
  has helped establish numerous initiatives and groups, including
  Crime Stoppers, Angelina Beautiful/Clean, and the Lufkin
  Convention and Visitors Bureau, and his efforts were instrumental
  in the construction of a new chamber facility and in the revival of
  the Texas State Forest Festival, which has since grown into a
  popular and financially successful statewide event; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Huffman also plays an active role in his
  community in other ways, serving on the boards of the United Way of
  Angelina County, the Texas Festivals and Events Association,
  Workforce Solutions of Deep East Texas, and the Texas Forest
  Country Partnership; he has previously held leadership positions
  with the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives, Chamber
  Professionals of East Texas, and the Volunteer Services Council of
  the Lufkin State School; and
         WHEREAS, Respected and admired by his peers, this certified
  chamber of commerce executive has received numerous accolades; the
  Chamber Executives of East Texas named him Chamber of Commerce
  Executive of the Year, and the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives
  has recognized him with the Distinguished Service Award, the Marvin
  Hurley Award, and an honorary lifetime membership; furthermore, he
  received the Hall of Honor Award from the Texas Festivals and Events
  Association in 2014; and
         WHEREAS, The civic spirit of Jerry Huffman has greatly
  contributed to the vibrancy of his community, and his vision for a
  prosperous and productive future will continue to benefit countless
  residents of Lufkin and Angelina County for years to come; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Jerry Huffman for his dedicated service
  to the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Huffman as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
